North began to go Green with the help of the “Go Green Girls” a group of Girl Scouts at North who helped us begin our recycling program here. They brought those great bins to North to help us recycle our white paper and North is grateful to the “Go Green Girls!”  North also began an Ink Cartridge & Cell Phone recycling program last year thanks to parent, Diana Mosher. Please drop off your empty used ink cartridges (no refurbished or generics please) and cell phones in the bin outside the office and help North Go Green!  Now that the “Go Green Girls” have graduated from North we begin anew.

The North Goes Green Initiative is an initiative that several parents, PTO members and Mrs. Fortin were interested in starting at North Elementary.  I volunteered to help the effort and here I am – Allie Gillies- parent of an incoming 1st grader (and 2 other future North students) and website contributor as well as Chair of the North Goes Green Initiative.  I began recycling as a young adult and when I moved out on my own I began to  understand conservation and how to live a life wasting less and re-using household goods as well as recycling as much as I could.  Now that I have kids in school and am a parent I realize just how precious our earth’s resources are and I hope with your help to make North Elementary the first GREEN school in Somerset!

With your help we can make North Elementary and all of Somerset a GREENER place to be!
